A special meeting of the Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education is set for 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 26. The board will discuss a food-service contract partnership with Bright Beginnings Daycare. Options include rejecting the contract, providing a six-month contract, or providing a 12-month contract.

The board will also approve recent contributions, year-end budget expenditures and transfers, and a change to the 2024-2025 school calendar, based on the latest negotiated agreement with teachers. The interest-based bargaining team approved decreasing two student contact days to use as Curriculum Collaboration/Teacher Grading days. This will change two student contact days to two no-student days, still satisfying the required number of student contact days and remaining at 180 days in the teacher contract. 

The two Curriculum Collaboration/ Teacher Grading dates will be October 4, 2024, and April 21, 2025.
