Camp Hope ends on high note

Camp Hope-Heartland concluded Saturday and sponsors are already looking ahead to 2017. The free, week-long camp is for Kansas and Missouri children who have cancer or have had cancer. It is held each year at Barton Community College’s Camp Aldrich, located between Cheyenne Bottoms and Claflin.
Next year will mark Camp Hope's 35th anniversary, said Barb Keltner, camp media coordinator.
Early last week, Keltner reported a camp counselor who attends every year accepted a marriage proposal from another non-camper, who popped the question in front of the “Camp Hope family.”
“We had yet another marriage proposal at Camp Hope,” Keltner reported Saturday. “It was at the camp dance, and the couple are both former campers who are now volunteers.”
