Central Plains Middle Schoolers attend State Fair Spelling Bee

BUSHTON — The 17th Annual Kansas State Fair Spelling Bee was held at the Encampment Building on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017. Students participating from Central Plains Middle School-Bushton were Natalie Rolfs, Kristi Weeks, Kassidy Nixon, Hannah Ames, Lane Rolfs, Zoe Wimmer, Melissa Donecker and Lauren Oeser. The first part of the competition was a 30-word written exam. While the written exam was being graded the students enjoyed playing Kansas State Fair Trivia. Forty-three 6th-8th grade students competed in the written part of the exam with 25 qualifying for the oral competition. Kassidy, Kristi, Natalie and Lauren qualified for the oral competition. Kristi Weeks took 7th place and Lauren Oeser took 6th place.
“The students did an outstanding job and represented Central Plains very well,” said CPMS Principal Jane Oeser. “Congratulations on a job well done.”
