Charlie Dixon, longtime Barton County resident, has announced his candidacy for Barton County Commissioner, District 3, and is looking to win his first public election. Dixon’s life-long career has been in the oilfield industry, beginning back in the 1980s in Great Bend. He knows all too well of the ups and downs of the economy and local life in Barton County. He is eager to get started as an elected official to improving the prosperity of Barton County.
Dixon’s community service and involvement since returning to Barton County in 2010 includes Great Bend Community Theatre performances, board of director’s member and past president of GBCT from 2014-2020. During his time on the BOD, he was instrumental in the renovation project planning and successes, including the most challenging aspect which was the fundraising campaign and subsequent completion of the Crest Theater HVAC project in 2019.
As to why he wants to run for office, Dixon said, “I want to give back to the county that is my home, and to the community and neighbors that I love! I cannot boast about a political or business background, but I do represent the common worker and taxpayer of Barton County. I will be a voice for new ideas and changes, while also bringing Christian values to the Commission which I feel is a necessary part of being a County representative and excellent steward for all of the citizens of Barton County.”
