HOISINGTON — Since the announcement that the Lovett family will be moving in pursuit of a new employment opportunity, City Manager Jonathan Mitchell reported he has been approached by a local party who would like to purchase the driving range currently operated by the Lovetts. The current arrangement with the city includes a minimal lease in exchange for paying the taxes and keeping the property mown. Mitchell asked the council Monday night if they were willing to continue the arrangement, or even possibly sell the land to the interested party.
Councilman Mike Aylward stated he was in favor of continuing to lease the property, calling it a good deal for the city. Other council members agreed, but were not against the idea of a sale. Mitchell said he would let the party know the city would continue to lease the land, and if they would like to purchase it in the future, they could bring a proposal to the council at a future meeting.
Called The Long Drive Driving Range, it is located just south of the railroad tracks at 400 S. Main Street, just east of Rotomix.
