City OKs land swap

Pictured is the Great Bend Fire Station 2 looking westward. The Great Bend City Council Monday night approved a land trade with Nelson Stone, owner of CJS Properties. He purchased approximately 35 acres of land to the south of the station with the only access through a shared residential drive on Patton Road. So, OKed was the trade of the approximately .717 acres for a 60x500-foot easement along the west side of the station property totaling approximately .676 acres. He has agreed to cover all costs involved, said Fire Chief Luke McCormick. McCormick does not have any current plans for the parcel of land involved in the exchange. And, this will square off the city’s property and help with future expansion of the Fire Department’s training facility.
