C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) as viewed from Heartland Farm on Oct 17. Difficult to see with the naked eye with the brightness of Hunters Moon, binoculars and a steady hand with a night time mode/long exposure camera setting will aid in viewing the celestial object. Scan the sky about an hour after sunset to the west, north and above the star-like bright Venus.

Although, likely now past its best viewing, the comet will likely remain a naked-eye object after sunset in the west until, and possibly through, the weekend.

After that, it will likely be visible only with binoculars for the remainder of October and into early November. A telescope will be needed after that.

Comet 2023 A3 won’t return to our solar system for another 80,000 years.
