Commission to appoint district coroner

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• Ratification of repairs to a pickup for the Road and Bridge Department.

• Replacement of the deck for a bridge on NE 70 Road, west of NE 150 Avenue and crossing Cow Creek. 

• The appointment of a 20th Judicial District coroner.

• An occupancy agreement with the State of Kansas Parole office which is housed in the county office building at 1208 Kansas, Great Bend.  

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 9:45 a.m. – repair of fleet vehicles with Darren Williams, county works director. 

• 10 a.m. – Microsoft 365 license renewal with Dereck Hollingshead, information technology director.

• 10:30 a.m. – Golden Belt Humane Society services agreement review with Commissioner Barb Esfeld and Ken Roberts, Golden Belt Humane Society.

• 11 a.m. – regular business discussion to include budget amendments with Matt Patzner, director of operations.
