Commission considers board involvement resolution

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• A Resolution concerning the involvement of sitting Barton County Commissioners on area boards and committees.

• A request for Additional Funding for Facade Improvement Grant recipients Jared and Adeline Chansler.

• The vacation of a portion of various roadways in Buffalo and Eureka townships.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

•  9:45 a.m. – Great Bend Economic Development Inc. with President Sara Hayden.

• 10:15 a.m. – burn ban discussion with area fire chiefs.

• 10:45 a.m. – equipment needs: A request for proposal for a truck and truck bed with Darren Williams, county works director; and equipment repairs with Jennifer Hamby, solid waste director.

• 11 a.m. – sand hauling project with Commissioner Jon Prescott.

• 11:15 a.m. – Great Bend Police Department fiber project with Dereck Hollingshead, information technology director. 

• 11:30 a.m. – commission discussion. 

• Noon – regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, director of operations.
