Commission considers budget amendment, board appointments

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

•  A budget amendment hearing for the following Barton County Funds – General Fund, Road and Bridge Fund, Health, Solid Waste and 911 Tax Fund. 

• Approval of the amended budget.

• An application for a zoning amendment resolution requested by Polzin Land LLC, and Tim Garth, dba T&L AG LLC. 

•  The donation of an automated external defibrillator by Magellan Midstream Partners LP.

•  Appointments to the Local Emergency Planning Committee.

•  The transfer of money from the Special Alcohol Fund to  the All-Stars program.

• Four Facade Improvement Grant deadline extensions.

• An appointment to the Health Department Advisory Committee.

• An appointment to the Center for Counseling and Consultation Board.

• An appointment to the Fire District Number 2 Board of Trustees.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

•  10:30 a.m.  – program update and discussion reference cost applications of culverts and entrances with Barry McManaman, county engineer.

• 11 a.m. – voided check resolution with Jim Jordan, county treasurer, and Bev Schmeidler, county clerk. 

• 11:15 a.m. – tax sale update with Jim Jordan, county treasurer, and Diana Watson, administrative assistant.  

• 11:30 a.m. – regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, director of operations.
