Commission to offer conference update

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• A request for sponsorship of the Barton County Elementary Basketball League.

• The Emergency Risk Management Fiscal Year 2022 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.

• A memorandum of understanding with Barton County and Great Bend Economic Development Inc.

• The full release of mortgage for CUNA Mutual.

• The adoption of the 2022/2023 authorized positions listing.

• A Kansas Association Of Counties Conference overview.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

• 9:45 a.m. – Great Bend Economic Development Inc. report from Sara Arnberger, president. 

• 10:15 a.m. – façade Improvement Grant update with Chris McCord, Ellinwood’s Wolf Hotel. 

• 10:30 a.m. – certified rebuild of the 826G Caterpillar with Jennifer Hamby, solid waste director. 

• 10:45 a.m. – computer information technology computer replacement project with Dereck Hollingshead, information technology director. 

• 11 a.m. – training opportunities with Commissioner Barb Esfeld.

• 11:30 a.m. – regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, director of operations.
