Pregnant women and families with infants are invited to a “Community Baby Shower” from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in Jack Kilby Square, weather permitting.
“I’m really excited,” said Vicki Richardson with the Kansas Children’s Service League - Healthy Families, one of the event sponsors. “I have 50 Pack and Plays (portable cribs) stacked in our office that we want to give away. We have sleep sacks and we’re going to have some activities for the older kids that come.”
New and expectant parents, support people and community service providers are invited to this, the third annual community baby shower. It is intended to be free, fun and educational, introducing people to community resources. There will be safe sleep demonstrations and daddy relay games. Immunizations will be available, including TDAP vaccine to prevent tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.
Other sponsors are the Barton County Health Department and the City of Great Bend Fire Department.
