Controlled burn restarts, spreads

SUSANK — A fire Wednesday in Susank was caused by a controlled burn that restarted, according to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office.Deputy Sierra Thorne reports being dispatched to 100 Kansas Ave. in Susank at 11:41 p.m. Tuesday. She learned that a controlled burn was authorized earlier in the day for James E. Price to burn stumps. “The fire started back up, catching grass and numerous structures (sheds),” Thorne reported.
