“As discussed at the (council’s June) budget work session, staff has been identifying additional streets to resurface this year,” City Administrator Howard Partington said. He presented a list and referred to a city map with the routes highlighted.

In the end, council members authorize Mayor Mike Allison to sign a contract with Venture Corporation in the amount of $567,332 for the additional street work on residential and arterial streets.

This marks the second round of street repairs this year. The Council on June 6 approved work on almost 90 blocks identified as problems in 2015 and improvements to the Great Bend Municipal Airport runway.

This work was also done by Venture. The total cost of the earlier project, including the airport improvement, was $1,277,371.50.
