Crane photography, barbecue part of FOCB Annual Meeting
1-Tribune

The Friends of Cheyenne Bottoms have scheduled its annual meeting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center. New and renewing members will be treated to a hamburger and hot dog meal and each paid membership will receive a Friends of Cheyenne Bottoms T-shirt.
Following the meal, Jim Griggs, renowned nature photographer from McPherson, will give a program on photographing sandhill cranes and related species found in the same ecosystems. He will also talk about techniques and equipment needed for successful bird photography in general. Just for fun, he will include some examples of birds photographed in locations such as the Galapagos Islands, Peru and Tanzania, locations where he leads trips for Mondo Verde Expeditions. A short business meeting will follow the presentation.
The FOCB strives to promote and interpret Cheyenne Bottoms and the Kansas Wetlands Education Center through fundraising and assisting with programs. The FOCB assists with organizing the annual Wetlands Day for area second graders, as well as providing volunteers for various other KWEC events. Annual memberships are $25 for individuals or families.
The FOCB is also looking for additional board members. Anyone interested in serving on the board is asked to contact a current FOCB board member. For more information contact Dixie Divis, FOCB president, at 620-617-8368.
