As the 128 McPherson College bachelor’s students and master of education students in the class of 2015 marked their graduation at commencement, they received reminders about where to place their focus in life. Dr. James M. Dodson was commencement speaker at the ceremony on May 17, as the college bestowed its first honorary doctorate since 2002 on him.
In his address to the MC graduates, however, Dr. Dodson reminded the graduates that some of the greatest honors in life are being part of a great team, giving generously, appreciating beauty and doing skilled work.
“Life is not about achieving wealth or position or status or honors,” he said. “Life is about people. I believe in relationships.”
Local bachelor’s degree recipients include: Phoebe Diann Barton, Little River; Derek Eugene Bevan, Macksville; Trea Stephen Lott, Sterling; Heidi Kristina Lyne, Ellsworth; Ashlee Renee Maier, MAGNA CUM LAUDE, Claflin; Trenton Gregory Reif, Great Bend; Kala Marie Tiemann, Lewis.
