ELLINWOOD — Several Ellinwood High School band members recently participated in the KSU Concert Band Clinic in Manhattan.
While at the clinic they each student auditioned for a place in one of the six concert bands that would rehearse and perform during the three-day event.
Three of Ellinwood’s instrumentalists were able to secure a place in the top concert band. They were Elizabeth Frakes on flute, Mikayla Monday on bass clarinet and Steven Cortez on trombone.
During the clinic these students were under the direction of top-notch conductors from across the United States. They also attended a master class with a professor from the KSU faculty on their particular instrument.  The clinic ended with spectacular concerts by each of the six concert bands.
Mary Frakes and Connie Cortez were sponsors, as well as EHS band director, Don Regehr.
