Jamie Wetig

Former Great Bend High School graduate (1994) and Great Bend Middle School teacher (2003-07) Jamie Wetig has been named Assistant Middle School Principal of the Year by the Kansas Association of Middle School Administrators. Wetig is currently serving as the Assistant Middle School Principal at Valley Center Middle School in Valley Center.
The annual KAMSA Assistant Principal and Exemplary Assistant Principals of the Year Awards will be presented at the 2016 KAMSA Spring Conference Luncheon. The luncheon will be held on Friday, May 6, at  Washburn Rural Middle School in Topeka.
Wetig graduated from Kansas State University in 1999 where he majored in Secondary Education, earned his Masters in School Leadership from Emporia State University in 2008, and recently completed his District-Level endorsement from Fort Hays State University in 2013.  
He is currently completing his 17th year of service in Kansas public schools. His tenure includes nine years as a classroom teacher and coach, and eight years in administration, with experience serving as a building administrator at both the elementary and secondary levels. Wetig recently accepted the Superintendent of Schools position with USD 220, Ashland Public Schools.
Jamie and his wife, Robin, of 19 years, have two sons, Skyler who serves in the United States Army, and Alec who attends Garden City Community College and plays football; and a daughter, Brittany, who is currently a senior at Valley Center High School. In his spare time, he and his family like to attend Kansas State University sporting events, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
