Great Bend Middle School’s elite vocal groups entertained an audience with song and dance at the high school auditorium on Monday, Nov. 27.
Music in Motion started the performance with Susan Thrift’s arrangement of “Antiphonal Kyrie” followed by Avicii’s song “Hey Brother,” directed by Choir Director Max Chamberlain and accompanied by Abby Hammeke.
Women in Harmony then took the stage and delighted the audience with an arrangement by H.T. Burleigh’s “Go Down Moses” and Leigh Harline’s “When You Wish Upon A Star.”
After a short break, all 53 members of both groups took the stage to perform to Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” which was accompanied by Abby Hammeke on piano, Michael Stettinger (GBMS math teacher) on electric guitar, Jarod Bashor (GBMS para and Panther Talk director) on bass, and Brian Williams (GBMS counselor) on drums.
When asked about how he thought the concert went, Mr. Chamberlain stated, “I think we did extremely well! I am proud of the group’s progress from the beginning of the year. ‘Don’t Stop Believin’’ was a big moment for the kids. It took staff members and community members to pull off this song.”
