GBMS Scholars Bowl teams successful

The GBMS Scholars Bowl team hosted Dodge City Middle School, Garden City Eisenhower, Otis-Bison, Ellinwood and Dodge City Comanche Middle School on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
There were A-Team and B-Team division competitions. Great Bend was able to enter three teams for the meet mixing 7th and 8th graders together on the teams.


Great Bend’s A-team consisting of Skyler Fletcher, Sienna Cauley, Natasha Quintero Reyes, Malachi Wasson and Isaac Avila finished the competition with a 4-1 record and total points scored of 325. Dodge City also finished the day with a 4-1 record and, based upon tiebreaker rules, Great Bend received second place.


Great Bend’s B-Team, Ellyse Ellis, Kennedy Kern, Casandra Enriquez; Ty Boone, Maddix Pokorski and Lorena Favela, also finished their day with a 4-1 record, scored 240 points, and once again tied Great Bend with Dodge City Middle School. This time the tiebreaker went in Great Bend’s favor and the team finished first.


Great Bend’s B2-Team with members Jordan Brough, Cheyenne Roach, Sawyer Stoskopf, Jade Sanchez, Madelynn Gregg and Alexia Sanchez battled hard forcing four out of their five matches into bonus rounds and they finished the day in fifth place.
After the meet, coach Jennifer Axman stated, “Overall, it was an exciting start to our Scholars Bowl season and I am looking forward to the rest of our meets.”
