The Golden Belt Community Foundation has recently awarded more than $31,000 from 13 scholarship funds managed by the foundation. Of the 66 total applicants, 32 received awards.
Vida M., Dorothy C., and Vivian M. Archer Scholarship
Kyle Blakeslee is a 2013 graduate of Ellinwood High School. During high school, Blakeslee participated in basketball, cross country, and track and was active in FFA, FBLA, KAYS and student council. He was on the Barton Community College President’s Honor List and participated in College Farm Bureau. He plans to major in agriculture technology management at Kansas State University.
Bonny Boultinghouse is a 2013 Great Bend High School graduate. Boultinghouse is active in sorority philanthropic activities and has volunteered with United Way and the local food bank while in college. She is majoring in business management at Kansas State University.
Colton Churchill is a 2014 graduate of Ellinwood High School. He has been involved with FFA, Skills USA, football, golf, track and powerlifting. He was on the High Honor Roll throughout high school and was a Junior Rotarian his senior year. Churchill will be attending Barton Community College, majoring in agriculture.
Ryan Clark is a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School. He participated in KAYS, National Honor Society, World Language Club, American Legion Boys State of Kansas and was on the football, wrestling and tennis teams. He plans to attend Barton Community College, majoring in accounting.
Deiah Curtis is a 2014 graduate of Hoisington High School. She has been involved with FBLA, softball, tennis, cheerleading, choir and yearbook. Curtis will be attending Bethany College as a pre-med student.
Jordin Greer is a 2014 graduate of Hoisington High School and was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She has been involved with National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, student council, 4-H and Scholar’s Bowl. She played basketball and golf throughout high school. Greer will be attending Sterling College, majoring in Christian ministries and health science.
Carli Jording is a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School. She has been volunteering at the Great Bend Head Start program. Jording will be attending Barton Community College, majoring in early childhood education.
Anndrea Kraisinger is a 2014 graduate of Otis-Bison High School. She has been involved in 4-H for nine years. During high school, she participated in student council, SADD, KAYS, forensics, choir, drama and Scholar’s Bowl. Kraisinger will be attending Kansas State University, majoring in kinesiology.
Taylor Latham is a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School. She participated in FBLA, National Honor Society, Kayettes, Scholar’s Bowl, Student Council, Danceline, Cheer and Pep Club. Latham plans to attend Kansas State University. She plans to major in political science or business and pursue a law degree.
Kayla Schartz is a 2012 graduate of Ellinwood High School. She is currently attending the University of Kansas, majoring in journalism. She is active in various journalism programs and activities at the University of Kansas, volunteers at KUJH-TV and is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Danette Unruh is a 2012 graduate of Larned High School. She was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was nominated as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa All-State Academic Team while attending Butler County Community College. She will attend Fort Hays State University, majoring in radiologic technology.
Taylor Wondra is a 2013 Great Bend High School graduate. She will be transferring from Barton Community College to Wichita State University, majoring in physical therapy.
Ryan Joseph Bealer Memorial Scholarship Fund
Colton Lagerman a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School and will be attending the University of Kansas this fall, majoring in chemical engineering. Lagerman excels academically and participated in National Honors Society, Student Council, and the FBLA.
Jerome “Jerry” Becker Memorial Scholarship
Alec Witt is a 2014 Great Bend High School graduate. He was active in FBLA and National Honor Society. He was Valedictorian of his class and was on the All-A honor roll throughout high school. He will be attending Missouri University of Science and Technology, majoring in metallurgical engineering.
Ray A. Cheely Memorial Scholarship Fund
Ryan Clark is a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School. He participated in KAYS, National Honor Society, World Language Club, American Legion Boys State of Kansas and was on the football, wrestling and tennis teams. He plans to attend Barton Community College, majoring in accounting.
Miles Orth graduated from Great Bend High School in 2012 and from Barton Community College in 2014. He will transfer to Fort Hays State University this fall and will major in public accounting with the goal of becoming a CPA.
Cinco de Mayo Barton County Scholarship
Cristina Jaquez is a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School. She was crowned Cinco de Mayo Queen in 2013 and performed in the festival for during high school. She played soccer during high school. Jaquez will be attending Barton Community College, majoring in nursing.

She was a member of Kayettes, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, choir and the volleyball, basketball and swim teams. She was a Junior Rotarian, AWANA leader and volleyball and basketball camp volunteer. Hildebrand was on the All ‘’A’’ Honor Roll throughout high school. Hildebrand will major in kinesiology.

Katie Seeman is a 2012 graduate of Larned High School. She was active in high school athletics and played on the women’s golf team at Barton Community College. Seeman is majoring in animal science and agricultural business.
Hannah Wilborn is a 2014 graduate of Hoisington High School. She participated in National Honor Society, cheerleading, student council, golf, Cardinal Crew and Link Crew. She was class Valedictorian and a Presidential Scholarship Finalist at Kansas State University. Wilborn plans to major in engineering.

Gina Bogner of Odin is a 2011 graduate of Central Plains High School and is studying nursing at Washburn University, where she consistently has been on the President’s Honor Roll. At Washburn, she serves as Washburn University School of Nursing Dean’s Counsel and is also involved with Student Nurses of Washburn and the Pre-Nursing Club. She also serves as a Volunteer Patient Advocate at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Marissa Hoisington is a 2014 graduate of Great Bend High School. She was active in FFA, National Honor Society, Kayettes and forensics. She was a Junior Rotarian and earned a place on the Principal’s Honor Roll all four years of high school. Hoisington plans to major in nursing and pre-medicine at Fort Hays State University.
