Middle school plans to honor staff members

Starting in September, Great Bend Middle School will be implementing “Staff Member of the Month.” This will include all staff members, principles, teachers, secretaries, paras, lunch personnel, custodians, counselors, etc.
There will be nomination forms available at the Middle School in the front office, teachers lounge, and library.  Anyone, including staff, students, and parents can nominate someone and put it in the Booster Club mailbox located in the office of the Middle School.
Organizers are asking for a brief summary why the individual wants to nominate the staff member. There will be a committee team that will review all votes and will base their decision on them. The first recognition will be announced mid September.
The idea is to recognize the staff for going over and beyond their call of duty. The organizers appreciate all of the staff and realize that they play a big part in molding our youth. This is just a small way of saying thanks for being great at what they do.

September is National Childhood Cancer Month and Great Bend Middle School would like to help Kans for Kids by collecting aluminum cans through the month.
Kans for Kids funds through gifts of cash and by recycling aluminum cans. One can make a difference to Barton County kids living with cancer by donating.
Those wanting to contribute can drop their cans off at GBMS, at the drop off east of Best Western on 10th Street in Great Bend or at ACME Pipe and Steel at 700 Frey Street in Great Bend (let them know it is for Kans for Kids).
Those who would like to make a cash donation can send it to Kans for Kids, P.O. Box 178, Hoisington, Kan. 67544.
