Hays Academy of Hair Design took 26 staff and students to the International Hair Show and Expo in Long Beach, Calif., the last weekend of January.
The reason for the trip was to support two students as they competed for International awards.
Sara Yarmer, daughter of Maurice and Julie Yarmer of Russell, and recent graduate of Hays Academy, competed for the International Business Student of the Year category, and brought home the 2nd place prize. Sara was awarded $500 cash and a $500 educational training voucher at the Wella Professionals Studios. Over 1,500 students enrolled at the 70+ Nuts and Bolts Business Training Member schools were eligible to compete in this very prestigious competition.
Cierra Dixon, current student at Hays Academy, competed in the elite Sassoon Academy School Connection Cut, Color, and Finish competition. Cierra advanced to the top 10 by outperforming 96 other entrants on an International level. Although Cierra didn’t finish in the top 3, she did an amazing job and her photos represented the school in a very prestigious fashion.
