Lori (Peter) Nelson of Lindsborg received an award Oct. 17, in Andover for the Outstanding Elementary Music Educator of the Year for the South Central Kansas District of the Kansas Music Educators Association. Lori is a graduate of Barton Country community Collage and Fort Hays University and received has masters degree from Baker University.
Among many duties of an educator, she is an intregal part of the Svensk Hyllningsfest, Lindsborg’s every other year’s Swedish event. She teaches her students dance and music for the fest which they perform two days on the streets of Lindsborg. She  also directs her students for the St. Lucía which is every December. The off year’s of Hyllningsfest, she and the physical education teacher combine their talents and have a program once a month combining music and exercise. She is director of the children’s choir in the Lutheran church, and also gives private piano lessons.
Lori graduated from the Ellinwood schools and is the daughter of Maxine Peter and the late Duane Peter.
