Musical tradition
The Great Bend Noon Lions and the Evening Lions clubs have sponsored students to the State Lions Band for many years. Pictured are Great Bend High School students who attended this past May, including Allison Regehr, Lisa Marlow, Dylan Vsetecka, Brandon Crane, Kaia Parks and Kaitlin Adams. Not pictured is Taylor Dougherty. This has provided a wonderful music experience for these students and approximately 200 band members every year across Kansas, GBHS band director Mark DeWald said. The Noon Lions Club started in 1923 while the Evening Lions was chartered in 1970. The Lions uniform jacket is on display at Great Bend High School in the west hall trophy case.
