The Newman University Music Department will present its first instrumental concert of the year at 7:30 p.m. today. The performance will be staged in the Performance Hall of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman University campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert, entitled “Journey,” represents festive music by the Newman Concert Band and the Newman String Ensemble directed by Instrumental Music Director David A. Baxter. The concert portrays periods of mankind’s journey toward meaning and faith over the ages – a fitting focus during the Advent season.
Local students performing include: Brandi Boese, LaCrosse, trumpet and Rubi Torres, Great Bend, violin.
