Phi Beta Lambda sells SC playing cards

The Sterling College chapter of Phi Beta Lambda has been hard at work to raise money for this year’s national competition in Nashville, Tenn. To raise funds, they have created and designed a custom deck of playing cards that feature photos of former Sterling College presidents, athletic teams, academic departments, buildings and campus clubs.
“We came up with the idea after we saw other schools and groups selling personalized cards. We figured it would be a great way to sell to both alumni and current students, as well as sell to the faculty and staff,” said sophomore Katrina Carman of Wellsville, who helped create and design the project.
The playing cards are sold at the Sterling College Bookstore for $9.25 plus tax. They are also available through the Bookstore’s website, www.bkstr.com/Home/10001-273905-1?demoKey=d. Sales will continue for the rest of the semester.
PBL is the collegiate subdivision of Future Business Leaders of America, and Sterling College has been a member of this organization since 2011. Each year, PBL chapters meet at regional competitions to test their business knowledge. Sterling College had six students participate in regional testing last year, and all six qualified for the national competition. This year’s regional competition will be Friday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 1.
