The Kansas Wetlands Education Center will offer two guided bird tours this month. These free tours will let both experienced and novice birders explore the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area and experience the fall bird migration firsthand, said KWEC Education Director Jean Aycock.
Hundreds of thousands of migratory birds stop at Cheyenne Bottoms each fall as they head south for the winter.  Waterfowl, shorebirds and cranes are all likely sightings. With extra luck, even the rare endangered whooping crane could be spotted, Aycock said.
The tours will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22 and Saturday, Oct. 24 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. To reserve a spot on a tour, call the KWEC, 877-243-9268.
