Fatal accident in Stafford County

STAFFORD COUNTY — The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3 in Stafford County.
Marjorie Bice, 87 of Plainville, the passenger in a 1999 Ford Escort, died in an accident after the driver failed to yield at the U.S. 50/U.S. 281 intersection.
A 2004 Honda Accord driven by Jonathan Ensz, 22, of Cimarron was east-bound on U.S. 50, which does not stop. A 2010 Dodge Avenger driven by Gary Lumm, 53, of Parsons was stopped north-bound on U.S. 281. Bice was in the southbound Ford Escort driven by George Wiebe, 77 of St. Louis Mo.; Wiebe stopped at the intersection but then pulled in front of the Honda Accord.
The Accord collided with Wiebe’s vehicle, which entered the south ditch where it came to rest. The Honda then collided with the Dodge.
Wiebe received injuries and was taken to Stafford County Hospital. Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seat belts.
The passengers in the Honda were Clarke Ensz, 18 of Hillsboro, and Randell Ensz, 17 of Cimarron, who were not injured, and Rachel Ensz, 17 of Cimarron, who was taken to Stafford County Hospital with possible injury. Clarke Ensz was the only one not wearing a seat belt.
The passenger in the Dodge was Brenda Lumm, 53, of Parsons. She received no injuries and was wearing her seat belt along with the driver.
