A Stafford man died and his 13-year-old passenger was injured Sunday as the result of a one-vehicle crash in Stafford County.

Kansas Highway Patrol reports Marvin E. Julian, 51, died after being transported to the Stafford County Hospital. Mason Lee Julian was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with undetermined injuries.

The crash occurred at 8:35 p.m. on U.S. 50 at SE 70th Ave., 6 miles south and 1 mile east of Stafford. Marvin Julian was driving a southbound GMC Yukon at a high rate of speed when it hit a patch of water in the roadway, causing the vehicle to travel south into a sandy field.
