Katie Goerl from Heartland Farm introduces Quivira, an alpaca at the farm, to children at the May 30 kickoff of the Great Bend Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. About 220 people enjoyed activities on the front lawn of the library, including meeting alpacas and playing lawn checkers and other yard games. Across the street, a crowd gathered for Final Friday on Forest, where the Bat Cats baseball team set up a dunk tank.
