Fire Dist. 1 budget hearing part of Barton County Commission agenda

The Barton County Commission and the governing board of Fire District No. 1 will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the courthouse. Those wishing to watch by livestream through Microsoft Teams may use the link https://bit.ly/3V6DEzY.

At 10 a.m., there will be a budget hearing for Fire District No. 1.

Fire District officials were asked to submit a preliminary budget request for the 2025 operating year. The public is notified that, should the budget be adopted as presented, it will exceed the revenue neutral rate. Budget information will be presented for public comment.

Items on the County Commission agenda are approval of added/abated/escaped/refunded taxes and appointment of Dr. Jennifer Mettling as Deputy District Coroner for the 20th Judicial District.

Following the agenda meetings, the following appointments are scheduled:

10:15 a.m. - Personnel, with County Attorney Levi Morris

10:30 a.m. - Program update and carryover budget request from Marissa Woodmansee, Juvenile Services director

10:45 a.m. - Carryover budget request from Brooke Haulmark, Central Kansas Community Corrections director

11 a.m. - Facade improvement update from The Landing LLC

11:15 a.m. - Regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator

Noon - Departmental visit with the County Engineer’s Office, Mapping, and Emergency Management
