The University of Kansas Health System St. Rose Medical Pavilion evacuated staff and patients at around 8:40 a.m. today after smoke alarms sounded, said UKHS Marketing Manager Regan Reif. Fire fighters determined the cause of the fire to be an air-conditioning unit in the server room. Everyone is safe. No one was injured. Convenient Care Walk-in Clinic has reopened. Clinic appointments will resume at 1 p.m. and missed appointments will be rescheduled. “Thank you to our staff who helped evacuate the building swiftly, and fire fighters who rapidly responded and determined the cause of the fire,” she said. Shown are, above, Great Bend Fire Department personnel on the roof of the building and, below, pavilion staff waiting for the all-clear signal.
