“I Feel Like Dancing,” by Jason Mraz, had members of a Great Bend Alive! flashmob smiling with their hips Friday night on Forest Avenue. Team members had a couple of rehearsals and then surprised the crowd while the guest band Steel Scarecrow took a break.
The participants were given flowers after the dance.
Lee Ann June from Great Bend Economic Development reports that all of the dance studios in Great Bend were represented, along with Barton Community College dancers and other people from the community who just love dance. Barton dance instructor Danika Bielek provided choreography and instruction.
The event also featured a pop-up art gallery called Art Alley, by the Barton Arts Movement. Approximately 250 people voted for BAM’s People’s Choice Award known as a BAMMY. This year’s winner was Chance Mitchell from Hoisington.
Sponsors of this month’s Final Friday on Forest described the evening as “phenomenal” even though lightning and an approaching storm brought the night to an early end.
