Free summer meals resume July 5
new slt lunches

Great Bend USD 428 Food Service will resume free summer meals beginning Tuesday, July 5. For the month of July, meals can be picked up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday in the gyms at Eisenhower, Park and Riley schools. Children will be provided with a to-go lunch and a breakfast pack. They can choose to eat in the gyms or take the meals home.

The free meals are available to all children 18 years of age and younger, said Kristy Alvord, Food Service director.

Children participating in the July REACH (summer school) will be invited to eat meals on-site in the cafeteria; they will not receive to-go meals.

Parent Pick-Up Permits are available again this summer. Parents/Guardians will bring all children for the first time with them to their preferred school location. This allows parents/guardians permission to pick up meals without the children present on future visits. Parents/guardians MUST have this permit with them every day to pick up the meals, with no exceptions.

Parents who have a June permit from Jefferson or Lincoln school can bring that permit to Eisenhower, Park or Riley and the food service staff will issue a new permit for that location.

“These meals are FREE to all children, no income guidelines, and no registration or paperwork,” Alvord said. “We highly encourage all our families to eat with us.

“Have a fun and safe 4th of July! See you this summer!”
