The Friends of Cheyenne Bottoms annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday, April 28 at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, 592 NE K-156, Great Bend. The event will begin at 4 p.m. with a free meal of hamburgers and hotdogs. Following the meal, Rob Penner, Cheyenne Bottoms Preserve & Avian Programs Manager for the Nature Conservancy, will present a program on beginning shorebird identification.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting but would like to become a member or renew an existing membership can mail a $25 check made payable to FOCB to 592 NE K-156, Great Bend, KS 67530.

FOCB was established in 2009 as a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting Cheyenne Bottoms for education, tourism and conservation. The group’s activities and projects have been focused on getting traffic through KWEC and the Cheyenne Bottoms area. FOCB’s biggest project is the 2nd Grade Wetlands Day each year.
