Two vehicles collided at 4:20 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 70, 2.2 miles east of the K-232 junction in Ellsworth County.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports an eastbound 1988 Honda Civic driven by Thomas E. Shavers, 18, of Gardner, changed lane due to a 2011 Chevy Camaro coming up behind to pass. Shavers over-corrected and struck the Camaro as it passed. The Civic then entered the median, struck an embankment and rolled, coming to rest on its top. The Camaro was driven by Michael Soto, 27, from Irvine, Calif.; Soto and his passenger were not injured.
Shavers was taken to the Ellsworth County Medical Center with possible injury. The Civic was removed to a tow lot by Randy’s Body Shop. No tow was needed for the Camaro. All three were wearing seat belts.
