GBHS band honors recognized

Great Bend High School bands and honor band students were recognized at Monday’s school board meeting. GBHS band instructor Mark DeWald and assistant Don Regehr recently accompanied two honor band students to the Southwest District Kansas Music Educators Association Honor Band in Dodge City. In October, the Panther Pride Marching Band attended the WAC Marching Festival at Hays.
The band earned a I rating at the Kansas State Fair, then attended the Winfield Marching Festival on Oct. 10 earning a II overall rating, with I’s for music performance and flags. The received a II overall rating at the Western Athletic Conference on Oct. 16 in Hays, with I’s for percussion and marching.
The band also played at the GBHS Veterans Day Assembly and Veterans Day ceremonies at Vets Memorial Park and Golden Belt Cemetery.
The High School Jazz Band was one of the performers at the Veterans Appreciation Concert at the City Auditorium.
