GBHS business students attend conference

A large contingent of Great Bend High School business students traveled to Canton/Galva last weekend to participate in the Future Business Leaders of America district competition.

They walked away with more state qualifiers than ever before in the history of the program.

"All of the students did very well and they far exceeded my expectations," said Cody Lee, GBHS business teacher and FBLA sponsor.

"This is the highest number of students we have ever taken to state so, hopefully, we can qualify some for the national competition in Orlando, Fla., this summer," she said. "The experience of state is exciting and I am thankful so many are going to get to experience it."

Lee said state will be March 31 and April 1 in Topeka at the Capitol Plaza Hotel.

The following students qualified for state:

Tory Arnberger, 7th Desktop Publishing; Emily Bowers, 6th Word Processing II; Allan Clark, 5th Economics and 8th Sports Management; Donna Craven, 1st Accounting II, 1st Business Calculations, 6th Business Communications and 4th Spreadsheets; Haley Deines, 6th Entrepreneurship; Dylan Dreiling, 9th Business Calculations and 5th Job Interview; and Nicholas Elliott, 6th Cyber Security.

Also, Ryan Jacobs, 10th Sports Management; Amber Kasselman, 6th Entrepreneurship and 4th Word Processing II; Colton Lagerman, 5th Business Math; Kelli McManaman, 10th Business Math, 1st Intro to Business Communications and 6th Word Processing I; Aaron Mull, 7th Cyber Security; Sylvia Ofoma, 1st Public Speaking and 2nd Word Processing I; and Nicholas Porter, 4th Marketing.

Other qualifiers include Paxton Rein, 8th Accounting I; R.J. Seidel, 6th Entrepreneurship; Emily Seiwert, 7th Desktop Publishing; Michael Sisson, 1st Business Math Megan Steele, 9th Job Interview; Danielle Suppes, 9th Accounting I and 10th Business Calculations; Alec Witt, 7th Intro to Business Communications; and Alexis Woods, 6th Public Speaking.
