Three Great Bend High School debate teams competed at the TMP debate tournament in Hays on Saturday. In the novice division, Darian Harbaugh placed first overall in outstanding speaker awards. The team of Harbaugh and Patrick Heath placed fifth with a 4-1 win loss record. In the varsity division, Lisa Marlow and Geoffrey Pafford had a 3-2 win loss record. The novice team of Tatyana Badue and Bayle Sandy competed in the varsity division for the first time earning a 2-3 win loss record against many fourth-year debaters.
On Oct. 17, at a novice debate tournament held at Hoisington High School, Great Bend High School’s two novice teams had a 3-0 perfect win loss record. Badue and Sandy placed first with a perfect win loss record and perfect speaker point. The team of Harbaugh and Heath also had a perfect 3-0 win loss record and 12 speaker points placing third overall.
