GBHS Debate team competes in Buhler

Great Bend took five teams to compete at the Buhler Invitational Debate tournament and tied for 3rd in team sweepstakes out of 28 schools. There were 55 teams in both the Open and Novice divisions. Nate Cheney and Spencer Johnson had a 3-2 win loss record in the Novice Division. Alex Smith and Mickey McNett ended the day with a 2-3 win/loss record in the Open Division. Also in the Open Division Michael Gieck and Paige VanSteenburgh finished with a 3-2 record. Courtney Seever and Nathan Stoulil competed in open to finish with a 4/1 win/loss record and placed 10th then Chase Pumford and Marissa Hoisington finished with a 4-1 win/loss record as well and placed 5th in the Open Division. Pumford commented, “It was a really tough tournament and it was hard coming so close to a perfect score but we got 4-1”.
