The rumor that a Great Bend High School student had a gun in their backpack during lunch today is false, GBHS Principal Tim Friess said.
“During first lunch today, it was reported to the office that a student had a gun in his backpack,” Friess said in an email to parents of students Tuesday afternoon. “The student was pulled immediately from the lunch room and was searched. No weapon was found.”
The reporting parties spread the word to others in the lunch room that there was a gun, he said. “No gun was ever in the school, nor did the accused have access to one. I had the rumor/lie checked out before the word ever got around.”
He went on to say “I wanted to send this to our parents so that you will know ahead of time that the rumor was false.”
