GBHS Novice Debaters win in Varsity

At the Haven Invitational Varsity Debate Tournament on Oct. 26, two Great Bend High School novice debate teams competed and both finished with winning records against varsity debaters. There where 22 schools and 58 teams that competed at the tournament. Trae Black and Ashtin Heath finished with a 3-2 win loss record with 25 speaker points and tied with their teammates Aaron Miller and Makinna Dykes with the same record and speaker points. GBHS Debate coach Barbra Watson commented “I was proud of all of my first year debaters that were brave enough to compete at this huge varsity tournament. I think they did an outstanding job!”
GBHS debate squad plans on attending Salina Sacred Heart invitational on Nov. 2nd.
