GBHS students place at 2022 Math Relays

Eighteen Great Bend High School scholars participated in the annual Fort Hays State University Math Relays on Thursday, Nov. 10. Around 535 participants and 41 schools competed at this event.  

In Using Number Sense, the 10th-grade team of Ian Premer, Thomas Armatys and Carson Umphres placed 1st. Individually, freshmen Aaron Ramirez and Yarlene Granados placed 4th and 9th respectively. 

In the Trigonometry event, the 12th-grade team of Ty Boone, Kevin Gonzalez and Maddix Pokorski placed 2nd. Individually, seniors Natalie Williams and Gavin Hirsh placed 7th and 9th respectively.

In Algebraic Manipulations, the 12th-grade team of Natalie Williams, Alondra Alvarez, and Ty Boone placed 8th. Individually, sophomore Carson Umphres placed 9th.

In Informal Geometry, Measurement event the 10th-grade team of Thomas Armatys, Carson Umphres and Jacklyn Garcia placed 4th, and the 12th-grade team of Natalie Williams, Gavin Hirsh and Maddix Pokorski placed 7th. In the individual portion of that event freshmen Ian Premer, 2nd and Aaron Ramirez, 4th  placed.

In Applications of Algebra, the 9th-grade team of Aaron Ramirez, Yarlene Granados and Ian Premer placed 3rd. Individually, sophomore Thomas Armatys placed 2nd.

In Calculations with Calculators, the 12th-grade team of Alondra Alvarez, Ty Boone and Kevin Gonzalez placed 2nd and the junior team of Braylon Moore, Paige Thexton and Makenzie Premer placed 7th. In the individual portion freshman Ian Premer placed 8th and senior Gavin Hirsh placed 4th.

Also participating were Apollos Johnson, Parker Dicks and Kaden Deines. As a school, GBHS placed 5th in the 5A-6A category.
