Golden Belt Community Foundation recently completed its first Giving Tuesday Now campaign, wrapping up and announcing the results online.

Giving Tuesday Now was a global day of giving and unity that took place on May 5, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. Golden Belt Community Foundation managed the campaign from May 5-12.

Giving Tuesday believes that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 affects more than just the infected, sponsors said. A pandemic like this touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community.

This year over 130 gifts were made to support 27 local charitable organizations raising a total of $46,377.41. Another $10,000 was provided as a proportional match from the Glenn and Elaine Mull Family Fund.

“This year marked GBCF’s first year to be a Giving Tuesday Now partner,” stated Christy Tustin, executive director, “and specifically with this campaign we invited 27 different organizations in Barton, Pawnee, Rush, and Stafford counties to participate that provided basic needs in their communities .”

The 2020 Giving Tuesday Now organizations are: Barton County Emergency Aid Association; Catholic Charities of SW Kansas; Center for Counseling and Consultation; Central Kansas Dream Center; Clara Barton Hospital Foundation; Christian Church Food Bank of Macksville; Community Food Bank of Barton County; Community Food Pantry (Rozel & Burdett); ElderCare Inc.; Ellinwood Food Bank; Ellinwood Hospital Foundation; Family Crisis Center Inc.; GBCF Disaster Relief Fund; Hoisington Food Bank; Meals on Wheels of Barton County; Pawnee County Ministerial Alliance/Helping Hands Ministries; Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Foundation; RSVP Volunteers in Action of Central Kansas; Rush County Memorial Hospital Foundation; Rush County Food Bank; Rush County Ministerial Alliance; Second Mile Food Bank (St. John); Stafford County Health Care Foundation; Stafford Ministerial Alliance Food Bank; The Salvation Army; United Way of Central Kansas; Welcome Inn Leisure Center (Larned).

“GBCF’s Giving Tuesday Now campaign was only possible because of everyone who supported a cause they care about,” said Tustin, “thank you for your support, participation, and spreading the word about Giving Tuesday Now.”

Regular Giving Tuesday will be celebrated on Dec. 1 this year.
