The proposed amendment to the Kansas Constitution failed statewide, but a majority of Barton County residents voted in favor of the Value Them Both Amendment. Preliminary totals from Tuesday’s election results show 4,022 “yes” votes – 55% – compared to 3,275 “no” votes.
In Pawnee County, 50.4% of voters were in favor of the amendment.
At 11 p.m. Tuesday, with more than 90% of the votes counted statewide, 39.8% voted “yes” (318,282 votes) and 60.2% voted “no” (480,901 votes).
