Golden Plains Quilts of Valor honors Army, Navy, Airforce veterans
November and December 2023
Jack June
United States Air Force and Naval Reserve veteran Jack June was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on Nov. 24, 2023, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Jack served from 1969 to 1973 in the Air Force and from 1989 to 2004 in the Naval Reserve. He retired with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. United States Air Force veteran Sergeant Mary Ann June was awarded a Quilt of Valor from Golden Plains Quilts of Valor on Nov. 24, 2023, at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend. Sergeant June served from 1971 to 1973. The quilt top was made by Margaret Evers, quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor. Golden Plains Quilts of Valor awarded two Quilts of Valor on Nov. 24 and two on Dec. 29, 2023. The November recipients were Jack and Mary Ann June, both veterans of the U.S. Air Force. December recipients were U.S. Army veteran Lloyd Boger and U.S. Navy veteran Edward Naughton.

Naughton served from 1976 to 1980, 1980 to 1984, and 1985 to 1992. The quilt top was made by Wendy Brackeen, quilting by Amy Schartz Mellor.
