Golfers, carts, needed for Camp Hope

Camp Hope participants can once again look forward to the "Our Kids" Golf Tournament when they gather in June for their annual, activity-filled week in Barton County. The camp is designed for children who have had or do have cancer.

"Our nine-hole golf tournament is one of the campers’ favorite events during their week here," Coordinator Jane Isern said. "And we need the community’s help to ensure the golfers have another fun morning on the course."

At least 36 volunteers are needed for pairings with more than 60 Camp Hope golfers.

"Volunteers have been always been the key to our past successes," Isern commented. "Without them, this tournament simply wouldn’t happen and the young golfers would be extremely disappointed. All volunteers should rest assured that they don’t have to be expert golfers; this is just for fun."

The shotgun-start tournament is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at StoneRidge Golf Club, Great Bend. The $30 fee covers lunch for a volunteer and two campers at the golf club, as well as half the cost of cart rental.
