A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at Veterans Memorial Park to open the long awaited Toddler Playground located on the southeast corner of the park. Earlier that morning, Great Bend firefighters will raise the “oodle” swing, completing the community-built project. Great Bend Fire Chief Luke McCormick and the fire department’s mascot, “Sparky,” will be on hand, along with representatives from the Great Bend Recreation Commission, the City of Great Bend, and the Golden Belt Community Foundation. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
