Great Bend man dies in collision near Liberal

LIBERAL — A Great Bend man died Saturday morning when the car he was driving rear-ended a semitrailer in dense fog in Seward County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports Ramiro Palacio-Castillo, 25, died at the scene, 2 miles east of Liberal on U.S. 54.
Both vehicles were eastbound at 5:12 a.m. when the semi driver slowed to make a left hand turn. Palacio-Castillo, who was driving a 2005 Chrysler 300, failed to see the vehicle slowing due to the fog.
He was taken Kitch Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.
The 2013 Freightliner, which was not pulling a trailer, was driven by Angel Richardo Garcia-Velazquez, 27, of Liberal. He was wearing a seat belt. He was transported to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal with possible injury.
KHP reports Palacio-Castillio was not wearing a seat by and Garcia-Velazquez was.
